Purpose: Masterplots contains summaries of books, plays, stories, poems, authors, and characters.

 

Scope: It covers a broad range of literature, including American Fiction Stories, African American Literature, British and Commonwealth Fiction, Drama, Juvenile and Young Adult Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, Short Stories, and World Fiction.

 

Organization: Masterplots contains an index, which literature is organized by type. In alphabetical order, once located, it can be found in one of the multi-volume reference sets.

 

Use: Each entry lists author, type of plot, time of plot, locale, publish date, summary, description of characters, themes and meaning, critical content, and sources for further study.
