Fraternity and sorority hazings
have become a largely focused topic within the media. There are
many lawsuits
pertaining to deaths and injuries because of Greek organizations'
hazing
procedures. Whether you are for or against hazing, there are
important
websites that give definitions to, information about, alternatives to,
and
laws regarding hazings in the college fraternities and sororities.
Because of the attention towards hazing within the fraternities and sororities, many of the states within the United States have developed their own laws for hazing. Unfortunately, there are six states that currently do not have laws, they are: Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Wyoming. To visit Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio's hazing laws, visit the following: http://www.stophazing.org/laws/in_law.htm http://www.stophazing.org/laws/ky_law.htm http://www.stophazing.org/laws/oh_law.htm Most fraternities and sororities take pride in their history, culture, and their members. Therefore, many of them have better defined their definition of hazing and the steps they take to enforce their policies.
