Arent Fox.com is a website that tells of the laws that are existence with advertising. It tells of laws that have been around for many years and laws that have recently been passed. For example, in this site one can go to the Telemarketing Law that was passed in February of 2000, started in December 1995. In this paragraph it talks of the investigation the FTC is conducting over the next five years and how it (FTC) can regulate this practice. Many other laws can be found with this website as well. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is a company that oversees business practices throughout the United States. In an advertising aspect, the BBB oversees the truth and accuracy that advertising projects. They are relied upon by local, state, and federal judicairy systems to see that advertising in accurate. They provide the necessary actions to remedy untruthful advertising that is potentially harmful to the consumer world. The website offers links to many opportunities that will give information on subjects that they cover, such as a code of ethics that gives information on how to effectively advertise to children under that age of 12, and how to monitor unethical advertising to pricing and "bait and switch" advertising. The Better Business Bureau is a reliable source that not only looks after advertising but also helps consumers of faulty practices.

Advertising Law and Ethics is a website that was produced throughthe University of Texas at Austin. The website is an addition to the Arent Fox Law Firm, however does not copy the topics included by the lawyers. The website tells how many advertisements are targets of much controvery. However, some of the critisicm produced by the advertisements may not be controlled by the government. The Federal Regulartory Commission(FTC) has the primary over the regulation of advertising. The FTC gives information about how to prove that advertising is deceptive and what evidence is required to prove it is false. For example, the quality of products and testing must be accurate to be advertised to the consumer. The FTC provieds a link that describes the process of violations, proceedings, and the decisons. Since there are specific areas that must be contolled, the FTC has links to provide more information on tobacco, alcohol, children, privacy, and copyright. The website gives links to other sites dealing with advertising and law in the electronic age and in the free market. This website give good information about how the FTC works and what it deals with. However, the material contained has not been updated since 1996 and some information may be outdated.



American Advertising Federation

The American Advertising Federation is an organization that deals with many advertising topics. The website has a link that deals with government related issues. The laws and ethics of advertising falls into this category. Not only do the BBB and the FTC monitor advertising, but so do the people working for the American Advertising Federation(AAF). They too monitor advertising on the local, state, and federal level. The website provides additional links to let the researcher know where the AAF stands on certain issues like bans, lotteries, and taxes. Links can be accessed to press releases on how to regualte advertising on the Internet through issues like chilren, small business, and privacy. This website provides excellent assistance in researching the material for advertising ethics.
