MarciveWeb DOCS- Catalog of U.S. Government Publications

This website is very useful in finding publications written by the government.  The only way you can you use it though is to be using a computer located on campus, or another college or library that has subscribed to MarciveWeb.  You can search for articles in many different ways.  It is just like searching for something on the Internet.  You first decide if you want to browse or search by keyword, then click if you want to search by title author or subject.

Once you have typed in you subject, click search.  You will then be taken to a page that will list how many documents are available on that subject.  It will tell you how many were found, but will only display a certain number of them.  After you have looked over the list, choose one that sounds like it may be useful, and click on the subject.  The next page displayed shows the titles of the documents related to the selected subject.  To get more detail about a certain title, you will need to click on the title.

The page in front of you should resemble a card from a card catalog.  This page will give more detailed information about the document you are looking for.  You will then be able to tell if this document will be useful to you or not.  After you have found the documents that you need, write down the titles and the current sudocs number.  This number is located at the top of the index page, or below the title on the selected titles page.  These document are very helpful to you because you can read up on the most recent research done by the government on accounting.
