Student Profiles
When Paola Gianferrari of South Africa was visiting colleges in America, trying to figure out where she wanted to go, two things became important to her: She wanted to know her professors, and she wanted a friendly place to learn.
She decided on Northern Kentucky University.
“I visited many colleges and universities in the area, and upon visiting NKU I knew this is where I wanted to go,” says the 23-year-old Criminal Justice major. “It was affordable and the fact that class sizes were not that big was a major plus for me - I like being able to interact with my professors and not just be a number, but an actual face that they will remember. The International Student Affairs staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful which made the choice a lot easier too.”
Now she has proof that she made the correct choice.
“It has been great!” she says. “I have had the opportunity to be a part of student organizations and I work on campus which also makes it easier to be able to meet new people. Everyone at NKU is extremely warm and welcoming and it really makes you feel at home.”
