Make Friends and Get Involved

Make Friends and Get Involved

The best way to learn local customs and make a home away from home is to make new friends and get involved. At NKU, it is especially easy to do just that.

Association of African Charities

The Association of African Charities is committed to helping the poor, elderly and disabled in Africa by hosting fundraising activities on campus and in the community.

Rotaract

This service club, sponsored by Rotary International, is part of an effort to bring peace and understanding to the world. The group provides professional development opportunities to its members through conferences and seminars.

International Friendship Program

Apply for an opportunity to be matched with an NKU faculty, staff, or community member who will help acquaint you with American lifeand who will learn about you, too, in this one-year program. A similar two-week Buddy Program exists for those who wish to feel more comfortable in their first weeks of school. Buddies will help you get to know campus, attend orientation and registration activities with you, and assist you in checking into your residence hall.

International Student Union

The ISU exists to improve the lives of international students by creating opportunities for mutual support and interaction, like the monthly Coffee Hour, International Week or potluck dinners. The union seeks to improve the atmosphere of NKU by providing a greater multicultural presence on campus. ISU hosts the annual International Potluck dinner which is compromised of a mixture of food, dace, music and other activities.Activities in the past have included an International Fashion Show, Japanese Tea Ceremony, Reggae song, international dances from Pakistan, Kenya, and India, American disco, and musical performances ranging from Blues to Classical. Typically, there are about 300 to 400 guests each year, and it is a lot of fun for everyone.

Student organizations

At NKU, there are 170 groups in which students can participate. Browse this Office of Student Life list of associations, clubs, and societies.
