Admission Requirements

There is a two step process to apply to a graduate program at Northern Kentucky University.

The first step is to complete all of the requirements below:

  • International Application
  • Payment of the $25 application fee
  • A complete and official record of all secondary schools previously attended, signed by an authorized official of the school, including dates of attendance, subjects studied, and grades.  If an original transcript or mark sheet is difficult to replace, a certified copy will be acceptable
  • A complete and official record of studies in every institution of higher learning attended beyond secondary school. These records should include dates of attendance, names of individual subjects studied, numbers of hours in each or rank in each subject. Students who would like to receive credit for the university level work abroad must submit a syllabus, course sheet, or university catalog (prospectus) describing the content of courses for which they would like to receive credit.
  • Proof of English Proficiency or completion of NKU's Intensive English Program
  • Evidence of sufficient financial resources. For government or agency sponsored students: an original letter from the sponsor stating the amount and duration of the financial guarantee and designating NKU as the institution of study.  For family supported students (or students able to support themselves): an original, official bank statement translated into U.S. dollars showing sufficient funds to support the student's first year of study, and an original, signed affidavit declaring full financial support for the duration of the student's studies at NKU.  All must be notarized or certified.
The second step is to complete the requirements of your specific program. Every graduate program is very unique and has different admission requirements. Please find the degree you are interested in applying to below and click on the link to learn the requirements specific to your major.

Please mail all of your credentials to the Office of International Students and Scholars. Once your application is complete, the Office of International Students and Scholars will deliver it to the correct department.
