The Mission of iNET

The mission of iNET is to connect the high-tech companies moving into the Northern Kentucky region with the technological, human, and programmatic resources of the university.

In carrying out its mission, iNET has seven specific responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate the connectivity to NKU’s technological infrastructure
that is anticipated from the Technology Commercialization Triangle.

  2. Link the region’s New Economy companies to the human resources at NKU. Students and faculty provide excellent
resources for the high tech companies that locate in the
    Northern Kentucky area.

  3. Link companies to existing academic programs at NKU. The
university currently offers a variety of baccalaureate and
post-baccalaureate programs that are likely to meet some of
the educational needs of high-tech companies.

  4. Facilitate the development of new educational programs or
alternative delivery models that meet the needs of the companies, as well as the anticipated workforce needs of the
region. iNET will develop new programs and implement new delivery models that will satisfy the unmet needs of New Economy companies in Northern Kentucky and beyond. iNET will serve as the catalyst for the development of the programs and delivery models requested by the companies.

  5. Link companies to other relevant resources at NKU. In recent
years, NKU has developed a variety of resources to support the
    economic development of Northern Kentucky.

In its role as the link between high-tech businesses and the
university, iNET will ensure that the businesses are aware of
the various resources at the university and will connect the
business with the resource(s) that will best meet their needs.

  6. Provide direct faculty consulting services to businesses to
assist them with their research and productivity. The university
is uniquely positioned to provide credible independent research and support for businesses.

  7. Contribute to aligning NKU program development with the region’s business and industrial growth areas. Given that iNET staff will be working closely with New Economy companies, iNET will be in an excellent position to influence the discussions and directions for academic programming and will, therefore, have a significant voice in the university’s strategic planning.

iNET is an important element in assuring the successful partnership of NKU with the technology-oriented businesses attracted to the Northern Kentucky region. It is iNET that will provide a link between the university and businesses so that both derive maximum benefit from the presence of the other.
