iNET Legislative Review
Project Director

Prof. Phillip Sparkes is Director of the Local Government Law Center and Assistant Professor of Law at Chase. Prior to joining the faculty he was managing attorney in the New York State Department of State. Under his direction that office performed a very similar function with respect to bills passed by the New York legislature and pending action by the Governor. Professor Sparkes’s background includes a degree in chemistry and work on such technology-related issues as hazardous materials, fire gas toxicity, building and fire code reform, emergency medical services, air and water pollution control, and occupational safety and health.

The supervisor will choose a team from among interested students enrolled at Chase College of Law. Preference will be given to those students with strong analytical and writing skills who may also have relevant backgrounds or experience in technology or public policy, or both. The allocation of fifty hours per week would accommodate a team of three or four students, depending on the time they have available for work.
