BENEATH THE

SURFACE

ancient and

modern Greece

This class explores the passionate culture and art of Greece through the lens of two art forms, one ancient and one modern. By juxtaposing theatre and photography, students will explore the heart of the Mediterranean in a variety of ways and locations.

Locations and field trips include Athens, Delphi, Mycenae, Epidauros, and the astoundingly beautiful island of Santorini, considered the jewel of the Aegean.

No training in theatre or photography is necessary, but these things are: a simple digital camera, a vivid imagination, and a desire to look beneath the surface. A good appetite will be important, too, as we dive into one of the world’s great cuisines. And perhaps into one of the world’s bluest seas, as well!

Taught by Mark Hardy, Theatre and Barbara Houghton, Visual Arts. Find out more.
