april showers

april showers bring jim to kentucky.... i'l drop by the garden during april 21-25. i'll pitch in to help.

i couldn't let it go that easy....

A new season

Another growing season is upon us. Well, it's upon me, anyway. Now that Jim has left for the sunny Gulf, I'll be managing the Honors House garden on my own. This year I will also be setting up and maintaining a community garden plot closer to home (about a four block walk), but for the purposes of this blog I will only comment on issues relevant to the Honors garden.

Today I planted the seed tray with the following seeds:

Tomatoes
(12) Amish Paste
(12) Brandywine
(12) Riesentraube (highly productive cherry type)

Peppers
(6) Garden Sunshine
(6) Thai Hot

That left me with 24 open cells, so I'll probably plant some herbs and flowers in those. Half of the seedlings will go to the Honors garden, the rest to the home garden. I also bought Black Beauty Zucchini. I got all of these seeds from Seed Savers.
