tonight i stopped by to water. it got two hours of sprinkler water. i wound the hose up. i can't wait till sunday. after a week of nonsense, gardening will be fun again. i think some of the purple cone flower is ready for harvest. more wildlife -- the canadian geese are back. i remember, as a child, canadian geese were rare animals in this area. this isn't just a perception, but actually a fact. they are becoming a fixture of the late summer campus. they can become a nuisance.
The Honors Garden of Earthly Delights

again, a delinquent week in posting. what happened this week:
lots of rain, finally.
we took down the bean and pea fence, now that they had their run.
we mowed. and my oh my, does the garden ever look the better for it -- including mowing down the spent beans on andys side. we picked up the fence and tossed it in the dumpster. also used the weed eater and trimmed up around the shed and on the side that had the five foot tall weeds.
aaron came within milimeters of making turtle puree. ortunately, the mower wheels were set high enough and the little reptile was saved.
the electric lawn mower was pretty inconvenient, but at least it got finished. we really ought to find either a small gas powered or an efficient old fashioned hand powered. moving that cord about really wasted loads of time.
we weeded the strawberries as well.
now, onto other garden projects for the fall! yay!
