Scholarship Application

The Zalla/Presidential Award and the Albright Scholarship require a separate Honors-specific application (pdf) completed and submitted directly to the Honors Program. The Albright, Storer, Federated, SENCORP, and Castellini Scholarships require an NKU Scholarship application submitted through the NKU Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Honors Program Scholarship Opportunities

Applying for Scholarships
  • All Honors-related scholarships are available only for current and continuing Honors students.
  • All of the awards are given under the condition that you will agree to make short presentations about your Honors studies at Honors events in the upcoming year.
  • Please call or stop in at the Honors Office if you have questions regarding your eligibility or application.
  • Students must have a current FAFSA on file in order to receive scholarships.
  • Check the Honors Update emails each semester for information about the application process.
  • To apply for any of the scholarships, complete the scholarship application and send it to Belle Zembrodt.
  • Please visit the Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement website to learn about fellowships available for community-based projects.

Michael Frances Zalla Presidential Memorial Award

  • Our most flexible award that can be applied to study abroad, conference travel, capstone research expenses, etc. This is not a tuition award.
    • Awarded for both the Winter/Spring (October 15th deadline) and Summer/Fall (March 15th deadline).
    • Student must submit the Honors-specific Scholarship Application directly to the Honors Program.
    • Eligibility:  Must be a current student at NKU and have completed at least two courses in the Honors Program at NKU or completed one Honors course and be currently enrolled in your second.  Must provide research proposal for the relevant project and/or travel.
      • Amount:  Varies.

      A.D. Albright Honors Scholarship

      • A tuition scholarship for students entering Junior standing.
      • March 15th deadline for a scholarship award that will be applied to the Fall and Spring semesters of the next academic year.
      • Student must submit both the general NKU Scholarship Application to the Office of Student Financial Assistance and the Honors-specific Scholarship Application to the Honors Program. The deadline for both applications is March 15th.
      • Eligibility:  Must be a sophomore or junior (i.e. completed at least 60 but not more than 90 credit hours, six of which are Honors), be enrolled in the NKU Honors Program, and have an overall GPA of 3.7.  Essay or research project from an Honors course must be submitted with application.
      • Amount:  Varies.

      Sheldon B. & Fern H. Storer Honors Scholarship

      • A tuition scholarship for continuing Honors Program students.
      • March 15th deadline for a scholarship award that will be applied to the Fall and Spring semesters of the next academic year.
      • Student must submit only the general NKU Scholarship Application to the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
        • Eligibility:  Must be a full-time, degree-seeking Honors student at NKU with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
      • Amount:  Varies.

      The Federated Department Stores Honors Scholarship for Business Majors

      • A tuition scholarship for continuing Honors Program students majoring in business.
      • March 15th deadline for a scholarship award that will be applied to the Fall and Spring semesters of the next academic year.
      • Student must submit only the general NKU Scholarship Application to the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
      • Eligibility:  Must be admitted into the NKU Honors Program with a current course-load of 12 credit hours, have a major or pre-major in the College of Business with a minimum GPA of 3.5, and have completed a minimum of 36 credit hours, nine of which must be from Honors courses.
      • Amount:  Varies.

      SENCORP Honors Scholarship for Business Majors
      • A tuition scholarship for continuing Honors Program students majoring in business.
      • March 15th deadline for a scholarship award that will be applied to the Fall and Spring semesters of the next academic year.
      • Student must submit only the general NKU Scholarship Application to the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
      • Eligibility:  Must be admitted into the NKU Honors Program with a current course-load of 12 credit hours, have a major or pre-major in the College of Business with a minimum GPA of 3.5, and have completed at least 24 credit hours, six of which must be from Honors courses.
      • Amount:  Varies.

      The Robert H. Castellini Foundation II Honors Program Scholarship for Business Majors
      • A tuition scholarship for continuing Honors Program students majoring in business.
      • March 15th deadline for a scholarship award that will be applied to the Fall and Spring semesters of the next academic year.
      • Student must submit only the general NKU Scholarship Application to the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
      • Eligibility:  Must be accepted in the NKU Honors Program, have a declared pre-major in the College of Business with a minimum GPA of 3.5, and have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours, three of which must be from HNR 101.
      • Amount:  Varies.
