What you need to know

Good standing

Honors students must follow these guidelines to maintain "good standing" status in the Honors Program:

  • Maintain a 3.33 cumulative GPA.
  • Enroll in an Honors course at least once a year.
  • Students with a GPA below a 3.33 at the time of graduation will not be able to claim the Honors minor, even if all of the coursework has been completed.

  • Students who have gone more than two semesters without completing an Honors course will also be removed from the Honors Program unless a meeting is arranged with our student advisor, David Kime.

Honors probation

If a student's GPA falls below 3.33 at the end of a semester, that student is put on probation.

  • Students on probation may still enroll in Honors courses, live in the Honors dorm and receive super priority registration, but they will lose any opportunity to earn Honors scholarships or travel awards.
  • If the GPA goes back above a 3.33 after the next semester they are considered in good standing again, with all privileges reinstated.
  • If the GPA stays below a 3.33 for two semesters, the student is no longer in the Honors Program and loses all privileges, including the Honors dorm and early registration.
