Internships
Internships are an ideal way for students to gain public history skills that can enhance a job resume or upgrade an application for graduate school or law school.
Departmental internships are available to any sophomore, junior or senior majoring in history or social studies for secondary education.
Internships count as a course (History 596) and require students to complete 110 hours of work-related activities. Interns will receive three hours of course credit, but they must pay the requisite course fee.
To make these opportunities more flexible, we have created our departmental internships as two-semester commitments of four hours per week. The four-hour limit allows students who work and carry a full load of classes to take advantage of this opportunity.
Student interns will receive a $250 Book Store Scholarship each semester. They will also have access to office and desk space, computer equipment and opportunities to work and learn with faculty members.
Applications are available in the Department of History & Geography office on the fourth floor of the Landrum Center.
