The program is composed of 15 credit hours. Required courses are HIS 515: Introduction to Public History and four methodology classes. Credits earned in the Certificate Program in Public History may apply to the Master of Arts in Public History at the program director’s discretion.

Eligibility requirements
To be eligible to earn a Graduate Certificate in Public History, prospective students will have to:
-
Submit a letter of intent that explains why the student wishes to add public history credentials to a master's degree they already possess or are currently seeking.
-
Provide an official transcript that verifies that the student either possesses a master's degree in history or a related discipline or is currently a student in good standing in a master’s program (minimum B average).
