Bachelor of Arts in Geography

To attain a Bachelor of Arts degree in geography, students must complete 37 hours of course work.

The required courses are:

  • GEO 100 -- Geography Through Contemporary World Issues (3 hours)

  • GEO 108 -- Physical Geography (3 hours)

  • GEO 385 -- Transformation of Geography in Modern Times (3 hours)

  • GEO 370 -- Geography Methods and Applications (1 hour)

To complete the degree, students must take 27 additional hours, including 21 at the upper division course level.

Majors are encouraged to take additional hours in other disciplines related to their area of geographic interest, such as courses in economics for those interested in economic geography or courses in anthropology for those interested in cultural geography.

Geography majors are also required to participate in outcomes assessment. Information about the type of assessment and dates for submission is available from the program faculty and department chair.
