For students interested in teaching social studies at the secondary level, the discipline of history makes up the core of the certification process. History
HIS 100-101 European History sequence - 6 hours
HIS 102-103 U.S. History sequence - 6 hours
HIS 108-109 World History Sequence - 6 hours
HIS 385 The Art and Method of History  - 3 hours
Two upper-division history courses – 6 hours

 II. 30 semester hours
Anthropology
ANT 100 Cultural Anthropology or ANT 201 World Cultures – 3 hours

Economics
ECO 205 Economics for Teachers – 3 hours

Geography
GEO 100 Elements of Geography or GEO 101 World Regional Geography – 3 hours

Political Science
PSC 100 American Politics – 3 hours
PSC 102 Comparative Politics or PSC International Politics – 3 hours

Psychology
PSY 100 Introduction to Psychology – 3 hours

Sociology
