Geo/His 594: Introduction to Historic Preservation

This class will provide you with a working knowledge of historic preservation. It incorporates individual resources as well as historic districts within the urban and rural setting. Topics to be examined include philosophy, undertaking historic and architectural research, determination of significance, conservation techniques, preservation planning and zoning, and the process for listing significant resources within the National Register of Historic Places. In an effort to broaden your exposure for the field, several field trips are planned and practitioners within the field will speak concerning their specific involvement with historic preservation.
