Welcome from IFS Director,
Dr. Prince Brown, Jr.

Hello:
I am Dr. Prince Brown, Jr., Director of the
Institute for Freedom Studies and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome and introduce you to the Inaugural Edition of The Freedom Chronicle
The Freedom Chronicle is the electronic newsletter for the Institute for Freedom Studies (IFS), here at Northern Kentucky University. The Institute was created a-year-and-a-half-ago, and it has four goals:
FIRST: Partnering with and helping to empower grassroots community groups active in local history studies.
SECOND: Supporting interdisciplinary academic research in the history and culture of the Underground Railroad
THIRD: Developing curricula and faculty opportunities for teaching about the Underground Railroad and related movements on all education levels, and
FOURTH:  Working in partnership with the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center which is scheduled to open its doors to Cincinnati in 2004.
The Freedom Chronicle will be an informational forum for scholarly commentary; and, it will make announcements on activities related to the Underground Railroad movement.
We would like to include YOU, the
Community, in our public dialogue on liberty and freedom.  Let us know what you think of this format and how we can improve it.
In our pursuit of these notions of liberty and freedom, we are inviting and welcoming articles from scholars and community researchers. We look forward to receiving your input.
Again,
Welcome.
