Just-In-Time (JIT) Philosophy

Name at three synonyms for JIT.

Is JIT more popular in product- or service-based operations? Why?

Describe the origins of JIT philosophy.

List and explain the Seven Zeros associated with JIT.

Compare MRP (push) versus JIT (pull) views of at least three OM issues. 

What is a "kanban?" Give an example.

Why is JIT known as a "pull" system while MRP is known as a "push" system?

Is JIT more applicable to job or flow processes? Why?

Are workers busier in push or in pull systems? (Consider both the physical and mental demands of each system.)

Describe at least three disadvantages of JIT.

Quality Management

List and describe the three foundation elements of quality management.  Explain why these elements support the expression of "Total Quality Management."
