People, Teams, and Improvement (Updated 02/24/2007 06:43 PM )MGT 415 Reference the LL Bean case on page 341 of the text. You work as a manager of special projects for Land's End, a clothing retailer that sells most of its good via catalogues. The Director of Operations is interesting in introducing more team-based improvement activities at Land's End. Like any good analyst, you take the initiative to prepare a report of what key competitors may be doing in this area. One key competitor is LL Bean. Using the narrative in the text (and other resources if possible) prepare an analysis that describes how LL Bean has incorporated the human element in their improvement activities. Put particular emphasis on how Bean is using team-based activities. What types of teams are they using? What types of problems are these teams solving? Any estimates of training requirements, costs, and savings would also enrich your analysis. As with other analyses on our series, consider how you can present the bulk of your data and analysis using tables or graphs.
