Data Analysis for PHY 220 and above

Dr. John Filaseta, Northern Kentucky University

Manual on Data Analysis (725 KB): A step by step guide on how to complete data analysis (including propagation).  Manual content includes basic concepts and definitions, specific examples, assignment questions and more. (Requires Acrobat Reader to open.)

Short Summary: Four Steps to a Meaningful Experimental Result (2 pages): This summary gives the steps needed to calculate an experimental result with appropraite total uncertainty; and explains how to determine if the experimental error was successfully minimized in obtaining the result.

Propagation of Uncertainty is a software application that will propagate uncertainty (or error) into the final result of the experiment.  Note, this application can serve as a check on the final answers of the work done by student experimenters but will not give a step by step solution.
