The Stallings English Scholarship

The endowment for the Stallings English Scholarship was established in 1989 by a gift from Mr. and Mrs. J. Roy Wells of Lubbock, Texas, to honor Frank L. and Virginia R. Stallings. The scholarship recognizes an English major (currently enrolled for at least six semester hours) who has a cumulative grade-point-average of 2.85 or higher. Selection is based on character, scholarship, and potential in the student's chosen profession. The award is not automatically renewable, but recipients may reapply and be considered with all other applicants.

The Judith Blackburn Award

This award was established in honor of Judith Blackburn, the first writing director in the department and a person who throughout her career at NKU was an inspiring, energetic, and tireless advocate for student writing and writing instruction. This award recognizes an English major graduating in the current calendar year who has shown special achievement in writing.

This scholarship is awarded annually to a senior student majoring in English, French, or Spanish and education, and it includes full funding of the year's tuition.
