A Family Full Of Service

The USS West Virginia

Every male on my grandparent's side went into World War II.  My grandpa's brother, Ray, was involved in the invasion of France and he was in the signal corps.  My grandma had three brothers in the war.  One was in the marines and he was sent overseas.  He said the trip over the Pacific was the worst part.  Another brother was in the navy and the other was in the signal corps.  He went overseas.  My grandpa was was a staff sergeant for the air force.  My grandfather and many other men prepared to go overseas but never had to.  my grandmother remembers the attack on Pearl harbor on the radio.  Everyone in the family was shocked because they never thought the Japanese could get that close.  My grandpa still to this day has a twenty-five dollar bill which is sixty years old.  It is now worth sixty dollars.  my grandma worked in a grocery store during the war while my grandfather was in the air force.  She made only ninety dollars every two weeks.
