In 1914 World War I began, and in 1917 the United States entered. Many
of our grandparents and great-grandparents fought in the war. They gave
up their lives for their country in a war that was said to be "the war
to end all wars". Even though the "Great War" was not the end of all wars,
it is still a vital part of our history. Today memories of World War I
are fading fast. Out of thirty-nine students in our class, only nine had
any real relations in the war, at least that they know of. These are their
stories of bravery, heroism, fighting, and the home front.
