Selection Criteria:
Our group researched many different poems by Emily Dickinson, both
separately and together, before finally compromising on a set of twenty
poems that we felt were properly reflective of Dickinson's most important
work. The poems we chose had to meet a certain criteria. The criteria we
followed required that the poems had to be within the subjects and themes
that
we felt were most important to Dickinson herself. Secondly, each poem had
to represent these subjects in its own individual way. We ultimately
settled on three subjects that fit within those criteria. The subjects
are love, death and religion. Five poems were picked to represent each
subject individually and five more poems were chosen that represent all
three subjects together. The following list contains the twenty poems we
chose for this project:
