Graduate Programs
The graduate faculty of the College of Education and Human Services is committed to providing outstanding graduate programs for education professionals that set a standard of excellence which leads to P-12 learners improved performance.
The Master of Arts in Education is designed specifically for certified teachers and seeks (1) to provide learning experiences that will improve the professional performance of classroom teachers, (2) to enable teachers to add to their certification, and (3) to enable teachers to earn a rank change.
The Rank I program is designed to be a logical professional step beyond Rank II, in that it continues to build the knowledge and skills of teachers in their current positions while it also attempts to give directions and assistance toward meeting the long-term professional career goals of teachers.
Alternative certification Programs are designed for those with a bachelors' degree who wish to change careers.
The College also offers a Counselor Education Program in Community Counseling and School Counseling. The development of a strong professional identity, a rich knowledge base, and expertise in the skills of counseling are essential to respond to the multitude of societal changes and to the ever-expanding counseling profession. Specifically, this program prepares quality counselors for community agencies and other mental health settings, for public schools in P-12 settings, and student affairs counselors for working in college settings such as advising, residence halls and career centers.
