Northern Kentucky University offers the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership.

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership Program is designed to enhance leadership skills for instructional and administrative leaders in P-16 settings (school and district administrators, teacher leaders, instructional specialists, college leaders and instructors), as well as other instructional specialists.

The program is designed to meet a set of “best practice” competencies/outcomes integrated with individual career and personal goals for educational leaders with five or more years of professional experience.

Two unique elements of the program include:

  • A cohort project focusing on a contemporary regional issue in education that impacts the educational attainment, economic viability, and/or livability in the metropolitan area, and;
  • An individual "action-research" dissertation intended to improve the quality of the organization and affect positive change in the institution in which the participant works.

One fall cohort of approximately 15 students is admitted each academic year. Applications for admission are now available. The priority application deadline for fall 2010 is February 1, 2010.  The final deadline for applications is April 1, 2010.
