HELP LEAD OUR INNOVATIVE, COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS TO PREPARE THE NEXT GENERATION OF EDUCATORS AND HUMAN SERVICES PROFESSIONALS.
Who We Are: A rising metropolitan university nationally recognized for our outreach and engagement with the region; located a stones-throw from Cincinnati in the beautiful rolling, bluegrass hills of Northern Kentucky; a place with an incredible quality of life and one of the country's lowest costs for living well. Located just seven miles from downtown Cincinnati in a region offering an outstanding quality of life, NKU is a nationally recognized metropolitan, state-supported university with 15,000 students and a reputation for excellence in teaching, a strong faculty, and careful attention to the needs of students and the community. NKU is committed to active engagement with the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati region of nearly 2 million people. The University is committed to recruiting and retaining faculty and administrators who have both the interest and ability to work across the full breadth of the University's teaching, research, service, and public engagement mission. For additional information on Northern Kentucky University visit http://www.nku.edu.
The College of Education and Human Services has three departments: Teacher Education and School Leadership, Counseling, Human Services and Social Work, and Kinesiology, Health and Educational Foundations. Offerings include nine undergraduate programs--elementary, middle grades, health and physical education, special education, interdisciplinary early childhood education, athletic training, exercise science, counseling and human services, social work, secondary education programs (in collaboration with College of Arts and Sciences) and graduate programs in MAED, MAT, Instructional Leadership (Principal Preparation), Community Counseling, School Counseling, Rank I, Alternative Certification in Special Education and World Languages, and various certificate programs. The College recently launched the University’s first doctoral program—the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership. The College has grown substantially in the past five years and is now home to 86 full-time faculty and staff and over 2000 undergraduate and graduate students. Its programs are accredited by NCATE, CAATE, and CSWE.
A college that expects to make real, systemic change in the quality of education and human services in our region and beyond. As examples, faculty regularly involve their students with service learning and undergraduate research projects; the College and University are active partners in an effort—STRIVE—to significantly increase the college-going rate of urban students; and numerous region-wide initiatives are underway in improving mathematics performance, assisting underserved populations, community counseling, and increasing global awareness to name a few.
What We are Doing: We prepare the next generation of teachers, counselors, social workers, principals, athletic trainers, leaders, health educators and other professionals for human service areas. Our 86 plus full-time faculty and staff educate over 2000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels and we are home to the University’s first doctoral program in Educational Leadership.
We are "recruiting" not "screening": We are looking for an idealistic, enthusiastic, and collaborative leader who wants to participate in a once-in-a-career opportunity to change educational paradigms and facilitate real progress in the educational advancement of a region.
