Clinical Education
The clinical education program affords students the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of athletic training employment settings.
During each of the five semesters in the ATEP, students are assigned to a working athletic trainer as an approved clinical instructor. Students attend the athletic trainer’s worksite and receive a guided application of knowledge and skills in a real-world patient care setting. A sample list of NKU affiliate clinical education sites is provided.
Athletic Training Students are required to be present at clinical assignments a minimum of 12 hours per week during the semester. Some clinical assignments occur during summer (i.e. NFL Football) and during winter break (i.e. College Basketball). The clinical assignments which occur outside of the regular semester may have different weekly attendance requirements.
