Health & Physical Education

Teaching Majors
Students desiring to teach in the public, parochial, or private schools in health education and physical education should choose the physical education major (teacher certification tracks) and the health education option. In addition to requirements for the teacher education program, these programs may lead to certification to teach in elementary and secondary schools.

Health Education Option, K-12
Health Education is an excellent choice for teacher certification, P-12 and/or as a minor. Health education is offered to students with any major in secondary school teacher education. It is particularly appropriate for a biology major or a student majoring in social studies as well as the traditional major of physical education. For a non education student majoring in biology, psychology, nursing, allied health and human services, or social work a minor in health education would complement her/his academic studies and may help in providing a practical framework for the major.
