2.  THE LYMPH NODE
 
Find the germinal centers in the darkly stained cortex. Notice also the connective tissue capsule that surrounds the node. 


 


 
 
The lymph node has a darker-staining outer cortex and a lighter-staining central medulla.   Lymphatic nodules (aqua arrows) are located in the cortex.  The node is surrounded by a pink staining connective tissue  capsule (red arrow).
