OPEN PRACTICES:  Sunday's, April 3, 10, & 17 from 12:30-2:30pm
Open practices are designed to review and practice the skills that will be judged at tryouts.  Open practices are not required, but strongly suggested.   The tryout clinics will be held in the Campus Recreation Center on the first floor of the Albright Health Center.

All members of the NKU Norse Dance Team must be a student at Northern Kentucky University and in good standing. All members of the team must also first audition before a diverse panel of judges. In this audition, each person will have to demonstrate correct dance technique, the ability to learn routines, execute specific dance skills, express enthusiasm, and demonstrate showmanship.  Team members will be selected on the basis of these skills, along with the consideration for which members will best represent Northern Kentucky University.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR TRYOUT SESSION
   
 NKU Student ID Card, Grade Transcript, or Acceptance Letter to NKU
   
Insurance Information or Insurance Card
   
$10 Registration Fee, Application and Registration Form
   
Wear flattering dance clothes (preferably a solid color and no loose-fitting clothes)
   
Dance shoes are recommended.  However, wear shoes that are comfortable and
      that will assist you in performing your best.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRYOUTS...
   
Tryouts are scheduled from 12-4pm, so make arrangements to attend the
      entire audition.           
   
Expect to work hard and try your best.  Bring a water bottle and a small snack to
      keep your energy up.
   
Be prepared to perform in front of the judges.  Having a neat and clean appearance
      is always a plus.
   
Dancers will learn the tryout routines on Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7.  The
      routine will consist of jazz, pom and hip-hop style choreography.
   
Required technical skills consist of split leaps, double/triple pirouettes, switch leaps,
      foette turns, and flexibility.
