Welcome

In this camp, I hope you'll learn to enjoy the sound of words, and try writing stories of your own.

You'll read some columns by Rick Reilly, who writes for Sports Illustrated magazine, and by Crocker Stephenson, who writes for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a terrific newspaper.

You'll play with words. You'll write some stories of your own. You may win a prize.

You'll keep a small journal, answering writing prompts created by English teacher Michael Trendel at his site, called GUMBO: Teaching Ideas for English Teachers.

Click the links to the left to start. They'll take you to some wonderful writing and fun writing activities.

When the week is done, I hope to post some of your own writing at this site, so that you will be a published author too.
