The Criminal Justice program offers students a firm grounding in the interdisciplinary nature of the criminal justice field. We emphasize the administration of justice and the resolution of conflict in program requirements. Rather than train students for a specific occupation, this program provides a thorough introduction to the many aspects of criminal justice and gives students an opportunity to develop solid reading, writing, and speaking skills. We require that students cover the key areas of the criminal justice system: police, courts, and corrections. The "core" requirements emphasize writing and research skills and introduce students to the key elements of the criminal justice field. The "secondary" requirements consist of upper-division courses that require more in-depth work in each of the major areas of criminal justice.
