CINSAM Director Position Information

Director of Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics

Northern Kentucky University invites applications for a position which is responsible for providing leadership for the Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics (CINSAM), an interdisciplinary Center which strengthens partnerships with schools and industry, and features collaboration across education, the natural sciences, mathematics, and computer science.

Reporting to the Dean of Arts and Sciences, the Director of CINSAM will have the following primary responsibilities:

• Oversee the programs of the Center which emphasize undergraduate research and outreach to the community and schools in the areas of mathematics and science
• Build partnerships with schools and businesses
• Identify and pursue grant opportunities and support faculty grant activity
• Seek out student research and externship opportunities
• Serve as a liaison among all the participating departments
• Hold an academic position as professor or associate professor in one of the natural sciences, mathematics or computer science departments
• Teach one or two courses per year or supervise undergraduate research projects
• Oversee assessment of activities funded or sponsored by CINSAM

The Director on CINSAM will be expected to have the following qualifications:

• Doctorate in a natural science, mathematics or computer science
• Established record of effective college or university teaching
• Record of ongoing scholarly activity, preferably involving students
• Academic leadership and administrative experience relevant to the position
• Ability to interact and  communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators and the community

The salary for this 12 month position will be competitive and the rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
