"Molecular Microspectroscopy and Evanescent Wave Spectroscopy"
ABSTRACT
|
Molecular Microspectroscopy allows one to collect
infrared and Raman spectra from samples whose size approaches the wavelength
being employed for analysis. As such the methods are ideal for small
particle identification and find use in defect analysis and forensics.
Fundamentals for each method will be provided and specific examples
will be given which show the methods versatility. The last part of
the presentation will focus on evanescent wave spectroscopy which allows
both infrared and Raman microspectroscopy to interrogate femto-liter
volume elements of the samples being studied.
