"Sol-Gel Chemistry: Making Porous Smart Glasses at Low Temperatures; Cool Chemistry, Hot Results"

ABSTRACT

Transparent glassy materials can be made at room temperature by the sol-gel process. Silica-based sol-gel processed glasses can also be made as nanoporous composites with polymers thus introducing interesting chemical properties into these composites. Example uses of these composites in chemical sensing will be presented.
