Pie Contest a "Smashing" Success
For the second consecutive
year the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SAACS)
held a "pie in the face" fund raiser. On April 26, the "winners"
received their just desserts (see video below).
The contest, which began
in mid-February, consisted of collection jars in the chemistry
stock room with pictures of each facutly
member.
Individuals would make contributions to the jar for the faculty
member of their choice. On April 24, the faculty member with the
largest contribution
would receive a pie in the face; Drs. Russell, Oliver,
and Edwards tied for top honors. This years contest earned
nearly $1400. The money will be used
by SAACS
members
to help
pay for group activities, including trips to national chemistry
conventions.
