Dr. Bullen Publishes Scanning Probe Microscopy Module for Digital Library

Dr. Bullen, an editor for the NSF-supported Analytical Sciences Digital Library (Link: ASDM), recently published the e-courseware module, "Introduction to Scanning Probe Microscopy" (Link: module). The module covers the basics of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), lateral (frictional) force microscopy (LFM), chemical force microscopy (CFM), magnetic force microscopy (MFM) and Phase Imaging. The article is complete with figures and on-line references suitable for anyone with a novice to intermediate knowledge of scanning probe microscopy.

The Analytical Sciences Digital Library, ASDL, is an NSF-funded digital library (Link: ASDM), that collects, catalogs, links and publishes peer reviewed web-based discovery materials pertinent to innovations in curricular development and supporting technical resources in the analytical sciences. The ASDL website (www.asdlib.org) is one of several collections funded by NSF' s National Science Digital Library (NSDL) program. ASDL was formed as a result of discussions at several regional and national meetings about ways to implement recommendations that were embodied in an earlier workshop report on Curricular Developments in the Analytical Sciences.
