Sep 14, 2009 - Mr. Robert A. Levy of the Cato Institute spoke to Chase students and faculty on September 8, 2009, in a very successful kickoff for the 2009-2010 Federalist Society activities. Mr. Levy explained in great detail why he believes the Heller decision was a victory for pro-gun rights. He included some of his thoughts about how the Court will rule in the future and expressed confidence that the decision will help lead to incorporation of the second amendment to the states. Professor Kenneth Katkin expressed agreement on many points with Mr. Levy and offered some different views about the future path of the Court. The Q and A session was lively and involved a discussion of the NRA's interactions in the case.

Students and professors enjoyed Starbucks coffee and homemade desserts while participating in the presentation. Also, three students were given a free signed copy of Mr. Levy's recent book, "The Dirty Dozen: How Twelve Supreme Court Cases Radically Expanded Government and Eroded Freedom."
