Sep 11, 2009 - First-year NKU Chase students attended the first in a series of six professionalism programs on Thursday evening, September 10, 2009. Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice John D. Minton, Jr., served as the speaker for this inaugural program addressing the topic of

"The Lawyer as a Professional." After quoting Abraham Lincoln and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the important role of lawyers in our society, Chief Justice Minton urged students to adhere to high standards of ethical integrity in their academic, professional, and personal conduct while striving to treat others with respect and courtesy. He encouraged Chase students as aspiring members of the legal profession to seek opportunities for leadership in their communities and to engage in pro bono work to assist those who lack access to legal services. At the conclusion of his presentation, Chief Justice Minton administered the NKU Chase Professionalism Oath to the first-year students. The program concluded with a reception, which provided students with the opportunity to meet and talk with the Chief Justice.
