Sep 08, 2009 - During the 84th Annual Convention of the National Bar Association (NBA) held in San Diego, August 1 - 8, Bernice L. Walker was elected as a one of nine Section Representatives to the 2009 - 2010 Board of Governors as the Chairperson of the Small Business Law Section. She was also elected as one of two at-large members to the Board's 18-person Executive Committee. In addition, NBA President Mavis T. Thompson has selected Bernice as her Chief of Staff. Founded in 1925, the NBA is the nation's oldest and largest national network of minority attorneys and judges. It represents approximately 44,000 lawyers, judges, law professors and law students and has more than 80 affiliate chapters throughout the United States and around the world. The organization seeks to advance the science of jurisprudence, preserve the independence of the judiciary and to uphold the honor and integrity of the legal profession.

Bernice is a Life Member of the association and served as President of its local affiliate, the Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati (1999 - 2001).
