May 12, 2009 - Three NKU Chase alumni were honored Friday, May 8, at the Cincinnati Bar Association's 2009 Annual Meeting Luncheon. Chase grads received three of the four awards presented; the Themis Award (Judge Timothy S. Black '83), the John W. Warrington Award (Joanne Wissman Glass '94), and the John P. Kiely Professionalism Award (Robert F. Laufman '61).

The CBA awarded its highest honor, the Themis Award, to The Honorable Timothy S. Black. The Themis Award recognizes extraordinary service to law and the community and this year Judge Black was the sixth recipient of the award in CBA's history. Black has spent the last two decades contributing to both the greater Cincinnati community and to the CBA. His community work has included promoting the Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati's joint program with the CBA, the BLAC-CBA Round Table. He has also been an integral part of the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers (CALL).

Joanne Wissman Glass received the John W. Warrington Community Service Award for her extensive involvement with organizations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati, Stepping Stones Foundation, Transitions, and others.

Robert F. Laufman accepted the John P. Kiely Professionalism Award, an annual award given to a trial lawyer in recognition of outstanding trial skills and a high degree of professionalism, civility and ethical standards. Mr. Laufman is well-known in the Greater Cincinnati area for his successful argument to the Supreme Court in Ohio Public Employees System v. Betts, an age discrimination case.
