May 11, 2009 - One hundred thirty-four students received their degrees at the NKU Chase College of Law commencement exercises this past weekend.

University President James C. Votruba presided over the ceremony that conferred 134 juris doctor degrees.

Chase Professor and 2009 Robert O. Lukowsky Award recipient Henry L. 'Steve' Stephens served as Grand Marshal. In this capacity Professor Stephens opened the ceremony, carrying the traditional mace, a symbol of scholarship and integrity for universities since the 11th century.

Cincinnati Bar Association President Philip J. Schworer delivered the key address to graduates and guests. Welcome and opening remarks were presented by Chase Associate Dean Molly Tami. Gail Wells, NKU Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, delivered remarks in recognition of Chase faculty. Chase Dean Dennis Honabach presented the degree candidates.

Awards were presented on behalf of the graduating class by Adam Stigall, President of the Chase Student Bar Association. The 2009 Robert O. Lukowsky Award recipient was Professor Henry L. 'Steve' Stephens. Registrar Jenny Young received the 2009 Outstanding Staff Member Award.
