Mar 24, 2009 - On March 13 and 14, the National Center for Adoption Law & Policy and Capital University Law School hosted the fourth annual National Moot Court Competition in Child Welfare & Adoption Law. The NKU Chase team of Brad Gibson, Danielle Ravencraft, and Christen Steimle won the national championship title. In doing so, Chase became the first school in the competition's history to win twice.

In addition to winning the national championship, Ms. Ravencraft was recognized as the best final-round oralist, and the team won the award for the third-best brief.

Chase's team of Brooklyn Franklin, Angel Zachel, and Issac Burkhart won the award for the best brief and advanced to the competition's quarter-final round. This marks the fourth consecutive year Chase has taken home the award for the best brief. In fact, Chase teams have won the best brief award every year the competition has been held.

The 2009 Competition, held in Columbus, focused on "Interstate Placement: Challenges to Timely Permanency." The event attracted 22 teams from 16 law schools across the country. Seven oral argument rounds were held at the Ohio Statehouse and the Ohio Judicial Center, home of the Supreme Court of Ohio.
