Chase National Trial Team Advances in Regional Competition

Mar 13, 2009 - The Chase National Trial Team attended the American Association of Justice's Student Trial Advocacy Competition Regionals, held February 27-March 1 in Cleveland, Ohio. The team of Mandy Aquino, Zachary Corbin, Lindsay Lawrence and Megan Mersch was one of four teams that won all three preliminary rounds and advanced to the semi-finals, with 8 out of 9 judges selecting them as round winners.

The team was accompanied by Professor Kathleen Johnson of the Center for Excellence in Advocacy, chase alum Richard Lawrence '71 of The Lawrence Firm PSC and Luke Busam of Reminger Co., L.P.A. As part of the National Trial Team and the Center for Excellence in Advocacy, the students spent the semester preparing for their trial competition learning advanced trial techniques from both faculty and attorneys with The Lawrence Firm and Reminger. The intensive one-on-one skills training throughout the semester proved successful. Sixteen teams competed in the competition, representing NKU Chase, Akron, Case Western, University of Cincinnati, Cleveland Marshall, Fordham University, University of Notre Dame, and Toledo.
