Mar 13, 2009 - Chase 3L Brittany Oliver and supervising attorney Will Welsh obtained a dismissal of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges for a client who cooperated with officers during a traffic stop and yet sustained injuries that required medical treatment. Brittany assisted with the investigation, locating evidence to support the theory that the arresting officers had used excessive force. She repeatedly tried to speak to the officers, obtained photos of the client's injuries and his medical records, and prepared for a jury trial. Will and Brittany credit their investigation and preparation with the prosecutor's decision to dismiss the charges.

The Ohio Justice and Policy Center partners with NKU Chase to offer law students hands-on clinical experience. Through the Indigent Defense Clinic, students have the opportunity to assist underprivileged clients while under the supervision of local attorneys. OJPC Executive Director David Singleton is a visiting professor at NKU Chase College of Law.
