Jan 26, 2009 - On January 24, 2009, the W. Jack Grosse Moot Court Competition was held in the new Student Union Ballroom in front of a crowd of over two hundred spectators. Angel Zachel, a second-year student in the day division, won the competition, and Elizabeth Sprowl, a second-year student in the evening division, placed second. Christen Steimle (second-year day), and Matthew Strange (second-year evening) were the other two finalists.

The students argued a case involving the Americans with Disabilities Act in front of a distinguished panel of judges who served as Justices of the United States Supreme Court. Judge S. Arthur Spiegel served as the Chief Justice, while Judge Timothy S. Black and Judge J. Gregory Wehrman served as Associate Justices. The students argued two issues: (1) whether the Petitioner's wife's Crohn's Disease satisfied the ADA's definition of a 'Disability'; and (2) whether the Petitioner was able to demonstrate a causal connection between his wife's disease and his termination from employment.

All four competitors did an excellent job, and they have all been selected as members of Chase's Moot Court Board.
